Design
Castan Cabin is a fully fitted out 4-season timber glamping cabin.
It provides self-contained, accommodation for couples or families, uses the same insulated core design as the Castan Treehouse, but it is sited at ground level. Like the Castan Treehouse design, a circular timber screen encloses the Castan Cabin, providing useful and attractive spaces on all four sides. These include; an entrance porch with space for boots and coats, a utility store, a veranda off the main living space providing access to the deck, and an outdoor shower which, would perfectly complement an adjacent hot tub.
These spaces, intended to be used for relaxation, are clad in narrow lengths of local Welsh timber, creating a screen that offers privacy and protection from the elements.
Vision
Castan Cabin is named after the sweet chestnut, Castan in Welsh. Protected by a spiny outer casing called a burr, chestnuts are said to encourage longevity, abundance and help with the grounding and centering of energy. The Castan Cabin is ideal as an additional space, for diversification or for paying guests on a glamping or camping site.

Environmentally conscious materials
Highly insulated core:
Using highly insulated timber framing, our cabins provide a comfortable thermal environment in all weather. Sourced locally, we ensure minimal transport emissions and work closely with suppliers to provide quality assurance.
Welsh Larch:
All of the cladding boards are larch and sourced from the local area. As untreated timber, the cladding becomes a silvery grey over time.
Minimal use of steel :
Our approach to steel usage is minimal, only used where necessary to provide structural rigidity for transportation. We prioritise sourcing locally, ensuring reduced emissions. By working closely with the steel fabricator, we guarantee quality assurance throughout the process.
Marmoleum:
Marmoleum has a very low carbon footprint. It is composed of 97% natural materials and uses 43% recycled materials. Its natural bactericidal properties prevent micro-organisms such as Salmonella, MRSA and C Difficle from multiplying.
EPDM:
We source our EPDM for our roof coverings from the UK. EPDM has a low GWP (global warming potential) and can be reused and recycled into many different products. It has a life span of between 25-50 years and doesn't pollute rainwater so is an ideal material for rainwater harvesting.
Windows & doors:
The windows are powder coat aluminium with high performance double glazing with the option for triple glazing. The front door is hardwood with a painted finish.
Heating:
The Castan requires minimal heating due to its highly insulated core, but radiant heating panels and electric bathroom radiators are included as standard in all models.
